Campervan hire in Tenerife: airports, costs and routes
Start with the right airport and a confirmed collection point, then build a route that leaves time for Tenerife’s coast, mountains and changing conditions.

Tenerife South or Tenerife North: confirm the exact handover
Tenerife Sur (TFS) and Tenerife Norte–Ciudad de La Laguna (TFN) are different airports. Match your flight to the location offered in the campervan listing before planning a transfer. An offer mentioning airport collection does not automatically include both airports, delivery at any hour or a free transfer.
Send the owner your flight details and agree the meeting point, handover time, any delivery charge and the procedure if the flight is delayed. Plan the return in the same way: confirm where the vehicle goes back and leave time for the condition check before travelling to the terminal.
Compare the total for the same dates and group
Compare vehicles using the same rental dates, approved travel seats and sleeping needs. Review the full trip price with cleaning, extras and delivery where applicable. Check included mileage, the security deposit, coverage and cancellation conditions separately rather than treating the daily rate as the complete budget.
A compact campervan and a larger motorhome suit different groups and routes. Ask for the actual length, height and sleeping layout. Confirm essential equipment such as a toilet, shower or child-seat arrangement from the individual listing; a vehicle category does not guarantee a particular fit-out.
Give Teide its own stage
Teide can be approached from different sides of the island, including the TF-21, TF-24 and TF-38 routes described by the national park. Choose the approach that fits your collection point and the rest of your journey instead of adding a mountain crossing simply because it looks short on a map.
Check official road conditions and the weather before setting off. A road journey, a cable-car visit and a walking route are separate plans: check the requirements for the activity you actually intend to do. Keep an alternative day available rather than assuming every mountain visit can go ahead on a fixed timetable.
Plan Anaga and the coast without rushing
Treat Anaga as a separate outing from a full Teide day. The reserve recommends considering public transport to reduce traffic and parking pressure. If you drive, plan where the campervan can stop before entering a narrow access or a village centre.
For coastal days, group nearby stops such as El Médano and Los Abrigos, or the northern towns around Garachico and Buenavista. These are planning suggestions, not reserved parking or overnight locations. Allow time for walking and a change of plan if a road, car park or activity is unavailable.
Confirm overnight stops and vehicle use before booking
Check the current rules for each overnight location and whether the site accepts your vehicle. A recreation area, viewpoint or daytime car park is not a confirmed campsite booking. Use official site information and the rental terms when planning the night, and arrange water and waste services separately.
If you want to take the campervan to another island, obtain approval for that particular vehicle before buying ferry tickets. Confirm the dates, return location and any extra costs in writing. At collection, ask how to operate the water, battery and gas systems, record the vehicle’s condition and agree how to report a problem.

Frequently asked questions
Can I collect a campervan at Tenerife South Airport?
Only when the listing and owner offer it. Confirm TFS explicitly, along with the meeting point, handover time and delivery fee. Collection at TFN is a different arrangement.
Is there one fixed campervan hire price in Tenerife?
No. Compare the total for your dates, group and vehicle, including cleaning, extras and collection costs where applicable. The deposit and usage conditions need a separate check.
Can I combine Teide and Anaga in one day?
Build the plan around your vehicle, starting point, visits and current conditions. Giving each area its own stage leaves more room for stops and changes than combining two full outings.
Can I take a rented campervan to another Canary Island?
Check the specific vehicle’s terms and obtain the owner’s approval before booking a ferry. Permission, coverage and return arrangements are not automatic.
